Grammy Award-winning jazz drummer Louis Hayes will perform at the second annual Maui Jazz & Blues Festival.

WAILEA – Enjoy a shining star in Maui’s music constellation this month with legendary performances, exquisite cuisine, art and culture.

The Grand Wailea in partnership with HawaiiONTV.com Networks, Jazz Alley TV and Maui Festival Hawaii have announced the second annual Maui Jazz & Blues Festival, which will be held Friday through Sunday, Sept. 14-16.

Throughout the festival, patrons will be treated to performances by jazz and blues legends, Grammy Award and Na Hoku Hanohano winners.

“Last year, our Maui Jazz & Blues Festival was a sold-out, magical event that people are still talking about,” said founder Ken Martinez Burgmaier.

The main event will be held on Saturday, Sept. 15, from 4:30 to 9 p.m. on the oceanfront Molokini Gardens stage at The Grand Wailea. (For a full schedule of events, visit www.mauijazzandbluesfestival.com.)

The event will feature legendary multi-Grammy and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Louis Hayes, a jazz drummer who has performed with John Coltrane, Miles Davis, Dexter Gordon, Cannonball Atterley and many other greats.

Another multi-Grammy winner, blues guitar legend Joe Louis Walker, will perform, as well as Grammy-nominated saxophone master Javon Jackson, revered Grammy-winning trumpet master Skip Martin of Kool and the Gang and Grammy winner saxophonist Eric Mariethal.

Also performing will be the lead guitarist of New Orleans’ Radiators band, Camile Baudoin, who was recently inducted to the Louisiana Hall of Fame; zydecko accordion master Cory Ledet from Louisiana; and Grammy-winning slack key guitarist John Keawe, who will perform his new jazz slack key style called “slazz.”

The festival will also feature jazz guitarist Benny Uyetake and the Kalama Intermediate School Ukulele Jazz Cats, Zenshin Daiko Taiko Drummers, and Hawaii’s own master singer, composer and Na Hoku Hanohano winner Brother Noland, who will perform Led Belly-style blues on guitar.

“Following the success of our nine years of music and cultural festivals in Hana, Molokai and Lanai, Jazz Alley TV and HawaiiONTV.com is honored to host another music festival with such revered artists performing for the Maui community and resort guests,” said Burgmaier.

Advance tickets are $50 if purchased by Friday, Sept. 7. Tickets will be $60 at the door. A VIP front-row table for ten is available for $1,000.
