KAPALUA – The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua will once again convene Hawaii artisans, educators, cultural practitioners, speakers and entertainers for the 20th annual Celebration of the Arts on April 6-7, 2012.

This year’s theme, “Me Ke Aloha With Aloha To All,” is a nod to the education and preservation of Hawaii’s past, present and future.

Opening ceremonies include traditional oli (chants) from native practitioners. Music and hula will be continuous throughout the weekend.

Hands-on art, demonstrations, films, cultural panels, music and dance will serve as the common thread to allow visitors and residents the opportunity to interact and enjoy the event, which was honored with a prestigious “Keep it Hawaii Kahili Award” from the Hawaii Tourism Association.

This year’s panel discussions include “The Evolution of the Canoe” with watermen Iokepa Nae’ole and Kimo Kapahulehua; “What Kind of Ancestor Will You Be?” by Brook Kapukuniahi Parker; and “Aloha Exists On Distant Lands” hosted by a gathering of individuals from Tibet, Africa, Samoa, Hawaii and North America.

Environmental concerns will also be addressed during a think-tank entitled “Moving With The Speed Of Nature” hosted by Trisha Kehaulani Watson of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration.

The Celebration Luau and Show will culminate the weekend festivities by bringing together traditional Hawaii foods and the contemporary cuisine of Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua chefs.

Celebration After-Hours Parties in the Lobby Alaloa Lounge are free for adults to enjoy from 9 p.m. to midnight both nights.

Hawaii entertainers will take the stage for impromptu performances – fun-filled jam sessions that reflect the spirit of aloha the islands are known for.

The Easter Brunch will be held on Sunday, April 8, while the children’s Easter Egg Hunt takes place on the Great Lawn.
