In celebration of Read Across America Day, Mayor Richard Bissen reads to students at Pukalani Elementary School on Friday, March 1 in Pukalani.

The students and staff were encouraged to wear stripes and their favorite hat on “Cat in the Hat” day.

Read Across America is a nationwide celebration that takes place annually near the March 2 birthday of children’s author and cartoonist Theodor Seuss Geisel, better known by his pen name Dr. Seuss. The day encourages children to experience the joys of reading.
