Community Talk Story Sessions continue next week

By Staff | Mar 1, 2024

The Maui County Department of Agriculture will host its next Community Talk Story Session from 5:30-8 p.m. March 7 at the Lāna’i Filipino Club Hous.

The sessions are aimed at validifying the findings from its Maui Nui Food System Needs Assessment and to gain the community’s insight on what solutions they want to see included in the Maui County Food and Nutrition Security Plan.

The Maui County Food and Nutrition Security Plan will guide Maui County to improve nutrition security, climate and emergency resilience, and opportunities for local food producers, with targets identified over the next five, 10, and 20 years. The plan will identify existing solutions, leverage points for change and improvement across Maui County’s food system sectors, and policy recommendations to improve food access and nutrition security, especially for our most vulnerable community members, including those recovering from the impacts of wildfires in Lahaina and Upcountry, kūpuna, SNAP-eligible populations, young families and geographically isolated rural communities in East Maui, Molokai and Lānaʻi.

Additional sessions are scheduled for:

• Molokai, Mitchell Pauole Community Center – Tuesday, March 12 from 4:30-7 p.m.

• Napili, location TBD: Thursday, March 21 from 5:30-8 p.m.
