Nurses to provide free screenings before Kula recovery meetings

KULA — The County of Maui’s ongoing Kula Disaster Recovery Community Meetings restart tonight at 6 p.m. at the Kula Elementary School cafeteria.

The weekly meetings, facilitated by Mayor Richard Bissen, will continue weekly as debris cleanup progresses. The meetings, held every Tuesday, are live-streamed and archived on the County of Maui’s Facebook page.

The Hawaii Department of Health’s Public Health Nurses, in collaboration with Healthy Mothers Healthy Babies Coalition of Hawaii, are offering free Lead Capillary Screening Testing, free vaccines, education and referrals to the Kula community on Dec. 5 and 12 from 5 to 6 p.m. before the weekly community meetings.

Kula Elementary School is located at 5000 Kula Highway.
