Douglas Girard Pitzer, 63
Douglas Girard Pitzer of Kahana, Maui left this world too soon on August 11th, 2023. He went out like a true hero, helping others as much as possible immediately after the Lahaina fire without regard to his own health.
Doug was born in Waukegan, Illinois on December 29, 1959. He was raised in Santa Monica, California. In 1983 he moved to Maui where he started Pitzer Construction, which later became known as Pitzer Built Construction.
Everyone who knew him knows what a big heart he had — there wasn’t anything he wouldn’t do for his friends and ohana. His outreach went very far, from employing anyone in need of a job to supporting others in their sobriety. As well as a large presence in the sporting community and donating time and materials to community spaces and events.
Doug is survived by his wife Kelly Pitzer, son John Pitzer (35), son Davis Pitzer (27), daughter (20) and his doggie girl Nala (8).
He is also survived by his siblings Greg Pitzer, Randi Pitzer, Bart Pitzer, Sue Pitzer, Cindy Howard, Sally Pitzer and Elaine Pitzer.
