KAANAPALI — Through the unwavering spirit of Aloha and heartfelt donations from around the world, the Hawai’i Rotary District 5,000 Foundation’s Maui Fires Relief Fund has garnered an incredible outpouring of support.
Three Maui Rotary Clubs collaborated to provide funds from this effort to support the Keiki Health and Wellness Fair held at Whalers Village on Saturday, Oct. 28. This event was attended by over 1,000 adults and children.
After the Lahaina fires, most health services on the West Side of Maui were disrupted. Among the 18,000 displaced are many children who do not have access to health services, well-child care and vaccinations.
Under the banner of Kokua Lahaina Rising, and with a large number of community partners, the Rotary Clubs of Kihei Wailea, Lahaina Sunrise and Lahaina Sunset utilized Maui Fires Relief funds for awarding of food vouchers for 1,000 attendees and a keiki fun kiosk. The food vouchers could be used at any number of the food trucks and restaurants located on the site of the event.
At the Rotary Keiki Fun Kiosk, children were provided with art supplies to decorate pumpkins and rocks, and each child received a Halloween treat bag.
Rotary members also distributed free Halloween costumes to children.
