LAHAINA — Lahainaluna High School’s David Malo Day Ho’olaulea returns on April 22, 2023, after a three-year, pandemic-related hiatus.
David Malo, one of the first students in 1830, served as an advisor to King Kamehameha III. Both promoted literacy and education for the people of Hawaii.

The storied event will be held on Boarders’ Field at 5 p.m. with a Hawaiian Plate dinner catered by Kanamu Balinbin.
At 6 p.m., the Boarders’ Chorus and Hawaiiana Club will perform chants, hula and songs depicting their legacy, the essence of Lahainaluna where culture lives.
Tickets can be purchased online by going to gofan.com for $23 (card fee included). Tickets can also be bought on the day of the event, April 22, 2023, for $25, cash only, on a limited basis. The program is free.
Event coordinators noted, “We are ‘Holu,’ resilient, and would like to give back to our state communities who have supported us all these years. Malama pono.”
