KAANAPALI — Maui residents are invited to attend a “Friendraiser” hosted by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset on Tuesday, Jan. 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at Royal Lahaina Resort’s Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant.

Members of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset will share information about the local, regional and international projects of this award-winning club.

The club will provide complimentary pupus, and there will be a no-host bar.

West Maui’s evening Rotary Club is in its ninth year of service to the West Maui community. With 32 members, the club is one of the largest Rotary Clubs in Maui County.

It has been named a Rotary Club of the Year in the Hawaiian Islands six times in its first eight years.

“We’re proud of our service to this community,” said Kelsey Briggs, president of the club. “And there is so much more we want to do. Our goal with this ‘Friendraiser’ is to meet some new friends — folks who may be willing to join us in tackling fun, important projects here in West Maui.”

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset has co-sponsored the Go Green Recycling program in West Maui since 2015. The club has also partnered with other Maui Rotary Clubs to plant 300 trees throughout Maui and to install and monitor life-saving rescue tubes on Maui beaches.

In addition, the club provides scholarships to high school graduates and works actively to support organizations serving the hungry, the homeless, students and seniors.

“We know Maui residents are looking for ways to give back to this community,” said Briggs. “Rotary provides the perfect avenue for service.

“In Rotary, we believe many hands make light work. Rotary members gladly volunteer our time, and we always get back more than we give.”

To attend the “Friendraiser,” RSVP to club Membership Director Jim Fahnestock at mauijimf@gmail.com or call (808) 214-5282. Guests are welcome to bring a friend.
