LAHAINA — Lahaina Public Library and North Beach – West Maui Benefit Fund invite you to meet authors Victoria and Benjamin Trevino, and Ryan Tam, on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.

The trio will discuss certain chapters from the book “Thinking About Traffic in West Maui.”

The Trevinos’ chapter, “The Ahupua’a and the Housekeeper,” investigates community biking programs as a form of transportation that could alleviate traffic on the West Side.

Alternatively, Tam, director of HART Planning, examines the pros and cons of a fast light rail system running between Kahului Airport and Kapalua from his essay “Using Light Rail to Shape a More Sustainable Future for West Maui.”

A Q & A session will follow the presentation.

This free informational talk-story is part of a series focusing on community-oriented solutions to issues confronting West Maui today — water management, traffic congestion, over-tourism, housing and other struggles.

Lahaina Public Library is located at 680 Wharf St. near Lahaina Harbor. For more information, visit librarieshawaii.org/events.
