LHS Foundation awards $153,000 in scholarships
LAHAINA — The Lahainaluna High School Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of its various scholarship awards from Lahainaluna High School’s Class of 2022, along with previous graduates receiving their renewable awards.
The scholarship awards presentation was done virtually via the school’s College and Career Center directed by Kristy Arakawa. Fifty-five scholarships totaling $80,500 in awards were presented to graduates of the Class of 2022, while an additional 14 renewable scholarships totaling $72,500 in awards were presented to previous alumni for a total of $153,000 through the foundation.

This is the foundation’s 21st year of awarding scholarships. It sets as its mission: E kako’o I ko Lahainaluna ma o na mea e ho’olako pono ai (to provide resources and opportunities to the Lahainaluna school community); E kokua I ka malama ‘ana a me ho’omau ana I ko Lahainaluna mo’aukala, kona mo’omeheu, a me kona maui loina (to assist in preserving and perpetuating Lahainaluna’s unique culture, history and traditions).
Current Foundation Executive Director Art Fillazar remarked: “We are grateful for the tremendous and generous support of the donors who have given so much towards the educational future of the Lahainaluna haumana.”
