Clubs utilize ‘sweat equity’ on Rotarians at Work Day

By Staff | May 13, 2022

Members and Interact Club members from the Rotary Clubs of Lahaina Sunrise, Lahaina Sunset and Maui Preparatory Academy Middle School Interact Club pose with some of the collected bags.

“Rotarians at Work Day” happens nationwide at the end of April each year.

Each year, clubs around the world identify hands-on projects that all members can participate in to help their local community.

Six Maui Rotary Clubs participated in numerous land and beach cleanup projects to help beautify our island home.

Thirty bags of rubbish and recyclables were collected by the Rotary Clubs of Lahaina Sunrise, Lahaina Sunset and Maui Prep Middle School Interact Club.

Thirty Rotarians and three Middle School students worked to clear a two-mile-plus stretch of Kaanapali Beach from Wahikuli Beach to Black Rock.

Seventeen trash bags of rubbish and recyclables were collected by the Rotary Club of Kihei Wailea. Participating were 13 Rotarians and three Middle School Interact Club Members from Kihei Charter School who worked to beautify Kamaole Beach Park III in Kihei.

The Rotary Club of Maui collected seven bags of rubbish at Haycraft Beach Park, where seven Rotarians — and one dog! — participated.

Six members of the Rotary Club of Upcountry Maui collected six bags of rubbish at Baldwin Beach Park.

The Rotary Club of Kahului collaborated with 15 Interact Club members from Maui High School.

This group worked to clean up and beautify the Hawaii Land Trust property in Waiehu.

The coastal Rotary Clubs of Maui offered special thanks to Malama Maui Nui for supplying grain bags, pickers and gloves for use in this cleanup effort.
