Highways Division engineer to speak at Rotary meeting

Robin Shishido will share information about Honoapiilani Highway Improvements from Papalaua Beach Park to Launiupoko at the meeting on May 3.
KAANAPALI — Robin Shishido will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 3.
The meeting will be held at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort.
Shishido will share information about Honoapiilani Highway Improvements from Papalaua Beach Park to Launiupoko. This part of the highway is located close to mean sea level and is susceptible to coastal erosion and flooding.
This project will look at service reliability, resiliency and safety for a roughly six-mile stretch from Ukumehame to the Lahaina Bypass.
Shishido has a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and Master’s Degree in Structural Engineering from Arizona State University.
He has over 20 years of experience in the planning, design and construction of roadway and bridge projects.
He spent 16 years in the private sector and the last seven years with the State of Hawaii.
As the Maui District engineer, he is in charge of the state roadways on Maui, Molokai and Lanai.
