LAHAINA — Have you ever wanted to sleep in the oldest house on Maui or to camp out under the stars in Lahaina? Then, step back in time with the Lahaina Quest “Night at the Museum” program!

Throughout 2022, Lahaina Restoration Foundation will be offering four free sleepovers for families at historic sites in Lahaina Town.

Each sleepover will include activities, crafts and snacks from the past, along with the chance to experience the past in a brand-new way.

“In general, visitors experience historic sites in a very constrained way — they are limited in where they can go, surrounded by strangers and seeing the site only in daylight,” said Kimberly Flook, deputy executive director of Lahaina Restoration Foundation.

“A night in a museum, however, brings a whole new appreciation of a site. Guests get quality time with staff, lots of elbow room, and a clearer picture of what life was like in each space.”

On April 23rd, families will be invited to spend the night at the Baldwin Home Museum, where they will take a candlelight tour of the home and experience missionary life after dark with period games, crafts and snacks.

Everything needed for the overnight stay, including cots, sheets, pillows, toiletry kits, and a continental breakfast, will be supplied.

All museum sleepover programs are for families with children in grades 1-8. Older siblings are welcome, and a guardian must be present.

The first sleepovers are now taking reservations. For more details, or to register, visit www.lahainarestoration.org/lahaina-quest.

Funding for the free Lahaina Quest 2022 programs is provided by Hawaii Tourism Authority through the Community Enrichment Program.
