LAHAINA — An extraordinary dining experience will be held on Earth Day, Friday, April 22, at Moku Roots Restaurant in Lahaina to benefit the Environmental Scholarship Program sponsored by the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset.

The “All About Kalo” dining event will feature a five-course dinner consisting of a tarostada, taro pave salad, coconut taro leaf bisque soup, blackened “tarofu” with kabocha and yucca spread, and finished with a warm taro brownie with taro vanilla “nice cream.”

The cost of this unique dinner is $75, and a portion will benefit the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset scholarship program.

June Shine Hard Kombucha Beverage Company will provide a special cocktail with $5 of each drink benefitting the scholarship effort.

Dinner seatings begin at 5 p.m., and reservations can be made via email at MokuRoots@gmail.com. Dinner seatings will be limited to 100 guests.

Since 2015, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset has awarded two $2,500 academic scholarships to graduating seniors who live in West Maui, Hana or Molokai and who attend a Maui or Molokai high school.

The student should demonstrate superior academic abilities, involvement in school activities and a winning character profile, and must be pursuing a field of study that will benefit the environment. Applications for these scholarships are available; the deadline for submission is April 21, 2022.
