Mills to speak at Rotary meeting

By Staff | Mar 25, 2022

KAANAPALI — Havilah Mills will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 29, at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort.

Mills holds an undergraduate degree in Business Management. Just out of college, her love of the outdoors led her to a career in the nonprofit sector, where she worked in environmental conservation.

Her hobby-based interest in wild plants and foraging led to more education in the field. After completing the course, she worked as a horticultural research technician with the College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources and shortly thereafter helped run the Maui Master Gardener Program as the interim program coordinator.

It was during this time that she started volunteering at school gardens. She then became a school garden coordinator, a school garden director, the volunteer coordinator, and now program manager for Grow Some Good.

She is passionate about connecting both children and adults to the natural world through hands-on, experiential learning, and working to ensure food security for all.
