By Staff | Jan 28, 2022

Dr. Allan Weiland will share volunteer opportunities with members and guests at the Feb. 1 Rotary meeting.

WEST MAUI — Dr. Allan Weiland, retired physician, will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s hybrid meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 1. At press time, the meeting is scheduled to be held in person at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort and via Zoom.

Weiland is a retired OB-Gyn physician who practiced in the Portland, Oregon area with Kaiser Permanente. For 12 years he was the president of NW Permanente, PC, the medical group of the Kaiser program, with around 1,100 physicians.

After retirement, he helped found a national disease management company for Kaiser, and then consulted for a year with the State of Oregon Health and Human Services Department as they prepared to implement the Affordable Care Act.

He moved to Maui full-time in 2019 and joined the Rotary Club of Kihei-Wailea. He was Administrative Services chair, and is now president.

After attending several meetings of the District 5,000 Health Services Committee, as the only non-Oahu member, he founded the Maui Rotary Health Services Committee.

The presentation will cover the history and activities of the Maui Rotary Health Services Committee. A keiki vaccination event is planned for Feb. 5.
