Registration open for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards camp
The Rotary Clubs of Hawaii announced that registration is now open for Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) camp starting Friday, Feb. 11, 2022 for high school sophomores and juniors throughout the State of Hawaii.
The RYLA Camp is usually a three-day overnight retreat organized on the individual islands, but due to Covid restrictions, Rotarians will be holding it virtually on the evening of Friday, Feb. 11, and continuing through Saturday evening, Feb. 12.
Included in this virtual camp is a “Survival Kit” with T-shirt, snacks, trinkets and other goodies. The Rotary Clubs will also be providing dinner on Saturday evening, Feb. 12.
This camp is sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Hawaii.
Students will participate, interact, learn and practice leadership skills.
Some of the presenters will be students who have previously graduated from RYLA.
Students will also be grouped into ohana groups that will include students from across the state. This is a great chance for high school students to meet peers on the other islands and develop life-long connections.
Students can register at www.RYLAHawaii.org and also find videos from RYLA graduates and lots of other information about RYLA.
Seniors and freshman are also allowed to register, but preference will be given to tenth- and 11th-graders.
Rotary Youth Leadership Awards is an intensive leadership experience program organized and coordinated by Rotary Clubs around the globe.
Each year, thousands of young people around the world participate in this program. Young people ages 13-30 are sponsored by Rotary Clubs to attend the event run by the students themselves, and develop skills as a leader while having fun and making connections.
While at the retreat, students will build communication and problem-solving skills; discover strategies for becoming a dynamic leader at school or community; learn from community leaders, inspirational speakers and peer mentors; unlock potential to turn motivation into action; and have fun and form lasting friendships.
Rotary International is a global service organization whose mission is to provide service to others, promote integrity and advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through its fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders. Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self.”
