WEST MAUI — Lee Imada, the Community Advisory Board Member of Hawaii Public Radio, will be the guest speaker at the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s hybrid meeting at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 2.
At press time, the meeting is scheduled to be held in-person at the Royal Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort and virtually via Zoom.
Imada is currently the executive assistant at the nonprofit Maui Economic Opportunity. His position is to support Chief Executive Officer Debbie Cabebe and Chief Operating Officer Gay Sibonga and to provide a media presence for the agency with more than 40 programs that provides help to 20,000 low income, senior, youth, disabled and disenfranchised residents a year.
Prior to joining MEO in January, Imada spent nearly 40 years at The Maui News as a reporter, editor, photographer and page designer, rising to managing editor in 2012.
Born on Oahu, Imada lived most of his life on Maui with the exception of college at Northwestern University in Illinois and a year at Nanzan University in Nagoya, Japan.
Imada will share information about Hawaii Public Radio’s reach in Maui County and the role the radio station plays in the lives of residents.
He will discuss recent developments, such as staffing changes and new programs, and describe his role as a Community Advisory Board Member.
