Members of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset collect school supplies and funds on Sept. 7.

LAHAINA — On Sept. 7 and 9, two West Maui Rotary Clubs held very successful drives to collect school supplies for children in need. Twelve boxes of school supplies and over $800 in funds were collected during the two days of the collection effort.

On Friday, Sept. 7, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset held this project for the children of Princess Nahienaena and Hana Elementary Schools. On Sunday Sept. 9, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise held the project for the students of King Kamehameha III Elementary School.

Collected supplies and funds will be delivered to the three schools later this month.

Both clubs thanked Lahaina Cannery Mall and CBRW Property Management Pacific Southwest for allowing the clubs to set up their collection tables and tents at the mall entrance next to Longs Drugs.

This School Supplies Drive is one of the many community service projects sponsored by the Rotary Clubs of Lahaina Sunrise and Lahaina Sunset.

Rotary is a leadership organization made up of local business, professional and civic leaders.
