Volunteers clean Kaanapali Beach

Twenty volunteers participated in a beach cleanup in Kaanapali on May 1. The next cleanup will be held Aug. 7.
KAANAPALI — A quarterly beach cleanup was conducted on May 1 in partnership with The Whaler, Rotary Club of Lahaina and students from local schools.
Volunteers focused to clear the beach and surrounding areas of trash from 8 to 9 a.m. while wearing masks for the duration of the activity.
It was a smashing success with 20 participants.
Cleanup organizers thanked Mila Salvador, general manager of The Whaler, and her administrative staff for providing COVID-19 sanitizing products, gloves, tools, supplies and refreshments; students from local schools, who earned one school community service hour; dedicated and supportive parents, Rotarians and community leaders; and impromptu local and visiting community-minded helpers.
The next beach cleanup is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021.
