Construction Industry of Maui to award $30,000 in scholarships
The Construction Industry of Maui this year will award two $15,000 scholarships to seniors graduating in the spring of 2021. Go to https://cimmaui.com/2021scholarship/ to learn more about qualifications and complete the application.
To enter, candidates will submit a compelling essay limited to 1,500 words detailing their planned course of study, career ambitions and any convincing reasons why they should be awarded this opportunity.
The deadline for essay and qualification submissions is May 1, 2021.
Transcripts, referral letters, achievements and college acceptance letters are also pertinent review criteria.
The winners of each scholarship will be selected by the CIM Advisory Board.
Donations and proceeds from the silent auction at the CIM Holiday Party fund the scholarships. Each scholarship will be $15,000 this year.
Last year, the Construction Industry of Maui received several qualified applicants for its annual Bob Poulson Scholarships. The top four vote recipients in the 2020 review all entered into civil engineering programs.
The 2020 scholarship recipients were Sarah Sakakihara and Dylan Nakagawa.
Trisha Egge, executive board member of Construction Industry of Maui, noted, “Our scholarship celebration banquet to recognize and honor these all-stars is unfortunately postponed, but will eventually happen.
“The CIM is extremely proud of these recipients and all applicants. We will continue to foster young bright minds and their pursuit of higher education. We hope their hearts leads them home to Maui.”
