Foundation to administer $122,500 in scholarships
LAHAINA — The Lahainaluna High School Foundation is pleased to announce that this scholarship season, it will be administering 57 scholarships, including renewals, for a total award amount of $122,500.
Lahainaluna seniors can apply for all scholarships through the common application form available on the LHSF website and through the school’s College and Career Counseling Center.
This is the foundation’s 20th year of awarding scholarships. The application deadline is April 6, 2021.
New scholarships making their debut are the Eugene Takenaga Memorial ($2,500), Ted Toshikiyo Memorial ($2,500), Charley Pride Memorial ($1,500) and the Lahainaluna Class of 2001 ($1,000).
Continuing their support for this important program are scholarships in the amount of $500: Lahaina Hawaiian Civic Club, TS Restaurants (four) and the Bonnie Ann Fijal Memorial.
Scholarships for $1,000 include 5A Rent-A-Space; Maureen Setsuko Ariyoshi Memorial; Vaughn & Luly Baker; Bank of Hawaii-Lahaina Branch; Boss Frog’s Dive & Surf; Central Pacific Bank-Lahaina Branch; Ebrahim Gabbay, M.D., Memorial; Blackie Gadarian Vocational (two); Kaanapali Land Management Corp.; Blaze Kalilikani Memorial; Brian Kelly Memorial; Andrew Kutsunai Teachers; LBA-Earl “Chief” Kukahiko Memorial; Lahainaluna High School Foundation (four); Michael M. Nakano Leadership Award; Alfredo “Fred” Sarian Memorial; Territorial Savings-Lahaina Branch; Maui County Federal Credit Union (five); Shelton ‘Ohana (plus renewals); and the Phoebe Toshikiyo Takenaga Scholarship.
Other scholarships include the $1,500 Roy & Betty Sakamoto (plus renewals); $1,500 H&K Takenaga Legacy; $2,000 Kihachiro J. Hotta Memorial Endowed; $2,500 Steven R. Strong, M.D., Memorial; $5,000 Makana Aloha Foundation (plus renewals); and $12,000 Shigeru & Toyoko Ichiki Endowed (plus renewals).
