LAHAINA — At a recent meeting, Rotary Club of Lahaina Rotary Foundation Committee Chair Joseph D. Pluta outlined the history of the foundation, including how Paul Harris recognition began.
The honor acknowledges individuals who contribute (or who have contributions made in their name) of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.
The Rotary Club of Lahaina became a “100 percent Paul Harris Club” in 2012, when every member achieved Paul Harris status.
Since 2012, Rotary Club of Lahaina members have continued their remarkable donation contributions to The Rotary Foundation, so that the average donation per every single member totals over $100 annually.
That contribution level earned the Rotary Club of Lahaina a “100% Every Rotarian Every Year Badge” each year since 2012.
The Rotary Foundation is the key administrative decision-making body for Rotary International, the largest international service club in existence.
Through the Rotary Foundation, over $3.5 billion has been generated for Health, Humanity and Service Programs, including wiping Polio off the face of the Earth with the Polio Plus inoculation program.
The Rotary Club of Lahaina, the first Rotary Club in West Maui, currently meets at Roy’s Kaanapali Restaurant while its former location at the Royal Lahaina Resort is under remodeling.
