KAANAPALI – At a recent meeting of the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset, Shawn and Lisa Guertin were inducted as the club’s newest members by Assistant District Governor Marti Wukelic.

Sponsored by Larry Laird, Shawn is a recently retired insurance executive Most recently, he served as the executive vice president and chief financial officer for Aetna Inc., a large Hartford, CT-based insurance enterprise. Originally from a small town in western Massachusetts, he is a graduate of Boston University and started his career training as an actuary in Hartford, CT, with The Travelers. Over the course of his career, he has lived in Atlanta and in the Washington, D.C., region as well.

Two goals for the next phase of his life are to make a meaningful, positive impact by serving others, and be much more connected to his local community. The mission of Rotary is perfectly aligned with achieving these goals.

Lisa was sponsored by Joanne Laird. She is originally from a small town in northern Connecticut. Her professional passion, training and natural talent is in interior decorating and design. She ran a successful home staging and interior decorating business while living in Maryland.

She has a long record of community service, especially in the areas of youth programs. While her two children were attending school in Poolesville, Maryland, she held multiple PTA executive officer positions from the elementary to the high school levels. She also served in leadership roles in youth sports organizations and was also a remedial reading mentor for elementary school students. At the community level, she helped coordinate annual functions and fundraising events.

Her mission is to “give back” and enrich and serve the community where she lives in ways that will truly make a difference.
