Lahaina Lions collecting donations to help the homeless

By Staff | Apr 4, 2019

LAHAINA Lahaina’s Mauna Kahalawai Lions Club Branch, a branch club of Maui Lions Club, is once again gearing up to help the less-fortunate.

This month, Lahaina Lions plan to go out to the homeless not living in shelters and distribute “Spring Blessings Bags.”

The club needs help, and it invites the community to donate any small items such as soaps, shampoos, hand sanitizers, toothbrushes, toothpaste or any items associated with hygiene practices, preventative measures to reduce the incidence and spreading of disease, and personal health care (no razors, please.)

All donations can be dropped off in the collection bin at Napa Auto Parts in Lahaina through Thursday, April 18, 2019.

The club is hoping to pass out approximately 200 bags.

Area businesses are encouraged to contribute to this cause and help people during this spring season.

Lahaina’s Mauna Kahalawai Lions Club Branch is known for conducting vision screenings to raise awareness of eye disease, which works toward the Lions’ mission of providing vision for all.

The Lahaina Club is also looking for community-minded members. The club currently meets once per month via virtual meetings on the third Thursday of each month beginning at 6 p.m.

If you are interested in dialing into a virtual meeting, becoming a member or donating items for the “Spring Blessings Bags,” contact, Lisa Puaa at (808) 264-1151 or lisa@dabarefootwarrior.com.
