Lions seek donations to provide hygiene packs to the homeless

By Staff | Nov 29, 2018

LAHAINA – Lahaina’s Mauna Kahalawai Lions Club, a branch of the Maui Lions Club, is once again gearing up to help the less fortunate over the upcoming holiday season.

In mid-December, Lahaina members plan to go out to the homeless not living in shelters and distribute hygiene bags.

The club invites the community to donate any small items, such as soaps, shampoos or any items associated with hygiene practices, preventative measures to reduce the incidence and spreading of disease, and personal healthcare.

All donations can be dropped off in the collection bin at Napa Auto Parts in Lahaina through Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018.

The club is hoping to pass out around 200-250 hygiene packs. Members hope that area merchants and residents will offer to contribute to this wonderful cause and help people during the holiday season.

Lahaina’s Mauna Kahalawai Lions Club Branch is known for conducting vision screenings to raise awareness of eye disease, in line with Lions’ mission of providing vision for all.

The Lahaina branch is also looking for community-minded members. The club holds virtual meetings on the third Thursday of each month beginning at 6 p.m.

If you are interested in dialing into a virtual meeting, becoming a member or donating items for the hygiene bags, contact Lisa Puaa at (808) 264-1151 or lisa@dabarefootwarrior.com.
