The benefit will feature local craft beers and small-batch spirits paired with regional cuisine, as well as live entertainment by Ben Deleon and a silent auction.

KAANAPALI – In honor of the resort’s core value of “Commitment to Community,” The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas’ signature award-winning restaurant, Mauka Makai, will host an exciting first annual festival-style event, “Perfect Pairings Maui,” with all event proceeds going to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Maui in support of their match and mentorship programs.

The event will take place on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 6 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $90 per guest and can be purchased at bbbshawaii.org/mauievents.

This event will feature local craft beers and small-batch spirits paired with vibrant regional cuisine, as well as live entertainment by Ben Deleon and a silent auction.

The name of the event is a nod to the programs that match adult mentors, or “Bigs,” and youth mentees, or “Littles.”

Brandon Maeda, complex director of food and beverage at The Westin Kaanapali Ocean Resort Villas and The Westin Nanea Ocean Villas, sees this event as an opportunity to align with other local businesses in the industry that are also advocates of community service, such as Maui Brewing Co., Ocean Vodka, and Kula Rum.

Maeda has been serving on the Big Brothers Big Sisters Maui board since 2013 and has observed how successful and crucial the match and mentorship program is for the development of Maui’s youth.

“Mentoring goes beyond an afterschool program. Pairing youth in need with a committed adult role model provides our keiki (children) the tools to build a foundation for a better-balanced life,” said Maeda.

“This program helps children make better decisions throughout their younger years and beyond, so they can achieve goals like receiving college scholarships and finding successful careers. We hope that everyone, visitors and locals alike, will come out to support this worthy cause.”
