Kaanapali Golf Courses last week announced its first Black Friday sale, in hopes of giving West Side residents, Kaanapali Beach Resort employees and visitors a great place to shop on Friday, Nov. 24 — so they don’t have to battle the traffic or lines on the other side! KGC will offer 50 percent off almost all logo apparel and headwear (hats) in the Kaanapali Golf & Resort Shop. There is also a limited stock of equipment on sale. Store sale hours are Thursday through Sunday from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Amy Hanaiali’i to perform show at The Ritz-Carlton

KAPALUA – Enjoy a well-deserved break from the hustle and bustle of the holidays at The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua’s Anuenue Room and Hanaiali’i Interactive’s Holiday Series, featuring Grammy-nominated vocalist Amy Hanaiali’i at 7 p.m. on Fridays from Nov. 24 through Dec. 22, 2017.

The 18-time Na Hoku Hanohano Award winner will fill the stage with song, cultural history and holiday joy as she joins guests for her triumphant return to the Anuenue Room with a brand new show.

She will take the audience on a cultural journey from the 1900s in Waikiki, to the 1920s to 1940s in New York City at Hawaiian Room, to the 1950s and 1960s in the glimmering luxury of the Las Vegas Strip and the Silver Screen in Hollywood, to the present with her sultry vocals of blues, jazz, pop and Hawaiian music.

Multi-platinum selling duo Thompson Square will perform in the Maui Arts & Cultural Center’s Castle Theater at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 25, as part of their first-ever acoustic tour titled “This Is Us.” With just two stools and an acoustic guitar, the tour will bring the fan experience closer than ever to the award-winning duo of husband and wife Keifer and Shawna Thompson. The duo has released two albums that have produced a combined ten chart singles on the Hot Country Songs and Country Airplay charts. Several of the ten authors will be present to read selections from their stories, and they will also be available to sign your purchases.

Books are also available for purchase at the Lahaina Visitor Center at the Old Lahaina Courthouse as well as both of the Maui Friends of the Library Bookstores at Lahaina’s Wharf Cinema Center and Queen Ka’ahumanu Center.

Come meet the authors and enjoy hearing them read their stories just the way they intended.

LAHAINA – The Lahainaluna High School Foundation’s Board of Directors is looking for motivated and passionate volunteers who would like to join the board and committees in providing opportunities and resources for the Lahainaluna community.

Although experience is not necessary, knowledge of fundraising, social media and event organization is advantageous.

The foundation, now in its 15th year, has been able to provide the school with more than $1,270,000 in scholarships, $1,250,000 in grants to clubs, sports teams and student organizations, more than 150 books endowed annually, and the $9,000,000 Sue D. Cooley Stadium.

Rotarians selling Christmas trees

LAHAINA – The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunrise is now actively pre-selling tickets for its annual Christmas tree fundraiser.

The pre-sale price is $70 per tree, and the on-lot price is $80. Wreaths are $25. The tree lot will be at the south end of the Lahaina Cannery Mall parking lot.

The six-foot noble fir trees will arrive in Lahaina on Black Friday, Nov. 24. Tree lot hours are 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, including Nov. 24, and 3 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. LAHAINA – On Tuesday, Nov. 21, the Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset invites the public to a talk by Dayna Garland, who will discuss Whale Trust’s research and educational efforts.

Garland is the operational and events director for Whale Trust, a research and education nonprofit based on Maui. She has worked in nonprofit management, communications and events for nearly 20 years. Garland has a lifelong love of the ocean and commitment to education and conservation.

The Rotary Club of Lahaina Sunset’s community speaker series takes place during club meetings held on the first and third Tuesday of the month at the Ocean Terrace Restaurant at the Royal Lahaina Resort from 5 to 6:30 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
