By Staff | Sep 1, 2016

Bishop Larry Silva recently visited Maria Lanakila Parish to lead confirmation for 14 young people and welcome sisters from the Missionaries of Faith.

LAHAINA – Bishop Larry Silva of the Diocese of Honolulu arrived on Friday, Aug. 19, for a mass celebration at Maria Lanakila Parish.

Fourteen youth received the Sacrament of Confirmation, and newly arrived sisters from the Missionaries of Faith were formally welcomed and blessed by the bishop. A potluck dinner followed with the confirmed youth, their families and sponsors, religious and parishioners.

Mother Agnese (Mother Superior of the Religious Order) came from Rome for this occasion, and she expressed how grateful she was to Bishop Larry, Father Joseph and the parishioners for becoming part of the Diocese of Honolulu by performing a traditional Samoan dance along with Sister Mary and Sister Roviesa.

The sisters teach at Sacred Hearts School and help in the parish. It was a truly blessed occasion for Maui’s West Side Catholic community.
