Maui Music Mission Director Reuben Pali congratulates scholarship winners Thayane and Juliana Colpas.

LAHAINA – Ten students who attended the recent Spirit Music Camp in Lahaina were awarded full-time scholarships to Maui Music Mission’s back to school program.

The winners each received a concert-sized ukulele from the Sophia DeLoria Foundation and a backpack gig bag from Maui Surfboards.

Rebecca Ankney, Kawai Murphy, Randall Bandman III, Juliana Colpas, Thayane Colpas, Cheyne Wright, Kestral Marshall, Makena Murphy, Minami Yamada and Kaliyah Cutty were selected as winners based on their musical aptitude, interest and commitment.

Memberships to Maui Music Mission’s after school program include access to lessons in ukulele, voice, piano, guitar, percussion, dance and performance dynamics. Registration opens July 1, and the program begins Aug. 1.
