Lahaina Hongwanji Mission to hold Fall Bazaar
LAHAINA – Lahaina Hongwanji Mission is holding its annual Fall Autumn Fest Bazaar on Saturday, Oct. 24, on the church grounds at 551 Wainee St. from 8 a.m. to noon.
Crafts, lots of rummage items, plants, cut fresh flowers, baked goods, assorted sushi, bentos, chow fun, ono huli chicken and other food items will be available for sale.
For those who did not yet get their flu shots, Walgreens will be at the bazaar to provide flu shots.
There will be a book signing for the biography of Tommy Sarashina, entitled “Tommy’s Wars: Paradise to Hell and Back,” by author Howard Fields.
Sarashina, the retired Kaanapali Golf Course marshal, grew up in Lahaina at Lahaina Hongwanji Mission, where his father served as minister prior to WWII.
The book tells his story of WWII’s impact on his family of internment, moving back to Japan and his years as a prisoner of war in Siberia. The bazaar will be a great opportunity to talk story with the author and Sarashina.
