Doris Cabanilla Saribay, 65
Doris Cabanilla Saribay, 65, of Lahaina passed away on July 15, 2015 in her home under the care of Islands Hospice.
She was born on Dec. 9, 1949 in Alcala Pangasinan, Philippines. Doris is the daughter of Pacita Cabanilla and Florencio Cabanilla (pre-deceased).
Doris was a faithful servant of her congregation at Maria Lanakila Church. She served as a eucharistic minister, lector and Sunday School teacher.
Doris was also active within the community. She belonged to various organizations, such as the Diocesan of Congress Filipino Catholic Club, Lahaina Filipino Catholic Club, Maui Filipino Catholic Club, Scared Hearts Society, Maui Community Council of Filipino Club, Binhi At Ani and Bailes de Pilipinas. She also worked for 40 years at Kaanapali Beach Hotel.
Doris is survived by her husband, Rudy Saribay; sons, Ryan (Andrea) Saribay and Rodney Saribay; brothers, Felix (Susanna) Cabanilla, Jose (Mila) Cabanilla, Ludy (Myrna) Cabanilla and Florentino Cabanilla; sisters, Essie (Mario) Arruiza, Nora (Craig) Takushi, Helen (Arnold) O’Brien and Lani Cabanilla; grandson, Choleton Saribay; 17 nephews, 11 nieces, 17 grand-nephews and 11 grand nieces.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Maria Lanakila Church; mass will begin at 7 p.m.
Visitation will also be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015 at Maria Lanakila Church. Burial will follow at 12:30 p.m. at Maui Memorial Park in Wailuku.

Mario Gazmen Sana, 59
Mario Gazmen Sana, 59, of Lahaina passed away on July 11, 2015 at Maui Memorial Medical Center. He was born on July 10, 1956 in the Cabugao, Ilocos Sur, Philippines.
Visitation will be held on Aug. 3, 2015 at Norman’s Mortuary in Wailuku from 8 to 10:15 a.m.; burial will follow at Maui Veterans Cemetery at 11 a.m.
Mario is predeceased by his father, Arsenio Sana. He is survived by his mother, Elena Sana; brothers, Bernie (Cristeta) Sana, Nestor (Emily) Sana, Roger Sana, and Ariel Sana; sisters, Nancy (Gil) Acuna, Dinia (Rick) Gagarin, and Digna (Petr) Slavetinsky; seven nieces, six nephews and ten grand-nieces and nephews.

Simeon “Sammy” Opaon, 92
Simeon “Sammy” Opaon, 92, of Lahaina passed away on June 22, 2015 at Hale Makua in Kahului. He was born on Jan. 5, 1923 on Maui.
Opaon worked and retired as a boiler room operator for Pioneer Mill in Lahaina. He loved the ocean, diving, fishing and golfing.
He is predeceased by his son, Michael (Karen) Opaon. He is survived by his wife, Feliza (Sally) Opaon; brother, Ben Ruidas; daughters, Linda (Paul) Kobayashi, and Stephanie Farrell; six grandchildren, Reno, Micah, Joy, Ellison, Portia and Jannick; and great-grandchildren, Aiyana and Chayton.
