Powerful Tools for Caregivers class slated in Lahaina

LAHAINA – Do you care for a parent, spouse, friend or someone living with you, in a care facility, on another island, the Mainland or in another country? If so, the Powerful Tools for Caregivers class is designed for you!

Topics include reducing stress, improving self-confidence, communicating effectively with health care professionals and family members, balancing caregiving responsibilities, making tough decisions and locating helpful resources.

Classes consist of six sessions held once a week, led by two experienced class leaders.

Interactive lessons, discussions and brainstorming will help caregivers practice and incorporate the “caregiver tools.”

The Lahaina class will be held at the West Maui Kaunoa Senior Center on Tuesday mornings from 9 to 11 a.m. from Jan. 28 to March 4.

Another class will be offered in Kahului in the University of Hawaii Maui College Community Services Building on Saturday mornings from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. from Jan. 25 to March 1.

A registration fee of $25 is refunded to all who complete the course.

This program is made possible through funding by the Maui County Office on Aging and a Partnership between Maui County Office on Aging and the University of Hawaii at Manoa Cooperative Extension.
