LAHAINA – “The Stories of Dr. Sun Yat-sen: His Vision for Universal Peace and Global Harmony,” a free presentation, will be offered at Lahaina Public Library on Saturday, Oct. 26, at 1:30 p.m. in the Children’s Section.

Dr. Busaba Yip, Chinese cultural liaison of the Wo Hing Museum in Lahaina, will conduct the presentation about Yat-sen, known as the “Father of Modern China,” who had local ties to Hawaii and Maui.

Yat-sen was a Chinese revolutionist and a western medical doctor who began his education in Hawaii.

His political ideals were grounded by three main principles: nationalism, livelihood and equality – the cornerstones for peace, unification and growth for China and the world.

His dream was not only for China, but for the global village to live in peace, love and happiness.

Following the presentation, Dr. Yip will lead a walking tour of Lahaina Chinatown on Front Street from the library to the Wo Hing Museum.

The one-hour program is suitable for ages 12 and older.

Lahaina Public Library is located at 680 Wharf St. For more information, call the library at 662-3950.
