Speaker Cheryl King, Hawaii Wildlife Fund vice president and Maui research coordinator, spent the month of June on Palmyra Atoll working with the Center for Biodiversity and Conservation of the American Museum of Natural History.

King has been researching sea turtles since 1996 in South Carolina, New York and Florida before moving to Maui and working with Hawaii Wildlife Fund in 2000.

She created www.sharkastics.org/ in 2010 to raise awareness of the impacts of marine debris and to encourage everyone to get involved with keeping our ocean beautiful.
