Summer Youth Gardening program set in Lahaina
LAHAINA – The Lahaina Animal Farm and Home Gardening Support Network invite all youth ages five and older to the 2012 Summer Youth Gardening and Petting Zoo Program.
The program will take place at the Lahaina Animal Farm at 108 South Lauhoe Place in Launiupoko on Monday, July 9, 16, 23 and 30, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The keiki will have a wonderful opportunity to learn about gardening and farm animals in a great setting. The youths will meet and feed the animals (chickens, ducks, tortoise, goats, sheep, pigs and horses), catch fish in the pond, meet the miniature and big horses and watch their tricks in the round ring, and learn about health and nutrition, the environment and sustainability.
Gardening activities include planting, watering, weeding and harvesting fruits and vegetables.
The program fee is $100 for the four weeks, or $29 per youth per day. Participating keiki should bring their own lunch.
