Obon season begins in Lahaina

LAHAINA – The Lahaina Shingon Mission at 862 Luakini St. will host the first Obon dance of the West Side season on Saturday, June 2.

Services precede the dance at 6:30 p.m., and the dance starts at 7:30 p.m.

There will be a mini bazaar with a variety of sushi, baked goods, pickled peach and mangoes, tsukemono, nishime and more.

Food concessions include chow fun, teriyaki beef, chili and rice, Spam musubi, shaved ice and cold drinks.

Everyone is welcome to come and enjoy the food and dance.

Dance practice will be held on Tuesday evening, May 29, beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the church grounds next to Kobe Japanese Steak House.
