By Staff | Mar 1, 2012

HONOLUA BAY – On Saturday at 1:05 p.m., Maui Fire Department Engine 11 and county Water Safety Jet Ski 11 were dispatched to Honolua Bay to assist a female on the rocks at the south side of the bay.

The woman, a 72-year-old visitor from Vancouver, B.C., was snorkeling when she got into trouble. She attempted to swim to a nearby catamaran; deck hands helped her reach the rocks.

The patient was alert and conscious but was having difficulty breathing.

Jet Ski 11 picked her up and brought her into the landing. Engine 11 personnel assisted in packaging the patient and putting her into the ambulance. The ambulance then transported her to Napili Park, where she was transferred to the hospital by Air-Med 1.
