OHA to discuss land settlement proposal

By Staff | Feb 9, 2012

HONOLULU – The Office of Hawaiian Affairs (OHA) is holding community meetings to inform its beneficiaries of the latest updates on the Kaka’ako land settlement proposal.

The tentative land deal proposed by Gov. Neil Abercrombie would give OHA 30 acres of property in Kaka’ako valued at an estimated $200 million. If approved by the legislature, this agreement will resolve claims relating to OHA’s share of public land trust revenues from Nov. 7, 1978 to June 30, 2012.

Meetings will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 14, at Helene Social Hall at 174 Government Road in Hana, and Wednesday, Feb. 15, at Maui Waena Intermediate School at 795 Onehe’e St. in Kahului. The public is invited to attend.
