Women Helping Women starting new women’s support group

By Staff | Feb 2, 2012

LAHAINA – Women Helping Women in Lahaina is pleased to announce the formation of a new “talk story” women’s support group called Freedom to Breathe.

The free five-week series begins Monday, Feb. 20, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and will continue weekly through March 19, 2012.

Knowing that women have the wisdom of personal experience to share, group discussions and activities facilitated by advocate Jeanne Reynolds will explore topics associated with healthy relationships and families, life challenges, creating a safe home environment and self care.

Reynolds, who has a Master’s Degree in Professional Mental Health Counseling, will use a “talk story” format and creative activities that include various modes of expression, movement and reflective time to allow each woman’s personal inner strength to unfold in a natural way.

The meetings are open to women who have been affected by intimate partner violence and who have questions, unresolved feelings and experiences that they want to explore and share.

Register for the five-week series by Monday, Feb. 13, by calling Reynolds at 661-7111.
