Lions to collect unused eyewear, hearing aids
The third annual “Lions in Sight” Statewide Eyeglass & Hearing Aid Collection is set for Saturday, Jan. 28, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Hawaii Lions ask people to look through dresser drawers and closets for used eyeglasses and hearing aids, then donate them to the Lions Recycle For Sight program.
The glasses will be distributed to those in need within developing countries where eye care is often unaffordable and inaccessible.
This year, hearing aids will be also collected, cleaned and tested for local distribution.
The Maui collection points are Lens Crafters at Queen Ka’ahumanu Center and Longs Drugs at Maui Mall and Lahaina Cannery Mall. For information, contact Alice Kudo at (808) 456-7278 or pback@hawaiiantel.net. Details on the program are available at www.hawaiilions.org.
