The Boys and Girls Clubs of Maui-Lahaina Club’s Torch and Keystone service clubs hosted a holiday dinner for club members and their families on Thanksgiving. More than 100 people attended. The Torch and Keystone clubs are leadership and community-driven programs offered at the Lahaina facility. The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Maui is to inspire and enable young people — especially those who need it most — to become productive, responsible and caring citizens. KAPALUA – This year, the Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua’s annual efforts to support the children of Maui’s Ka Hale A Ke Ola Homeless Resource Center will greet the season with a new commitment.

Instead of its annual Tree Lighting Ceremony, the hotel will host a week-long demonstration of “Sharing is Caring” in the Alaloa Lobby Lounge.

Locals and guests are invited to join the kickoff festivities on Saturday, Dec. 10, when talented children will be the shining stars of the evening. Hula halau will share the stage with the Lahaina Baptist Choir and Ahumanu.

Following the first event, the hotel will donate $5,000 to Ka Hale A Ke Ola. Staff will also issue a challenge to the community to augment the contribution during “Sharing Is Caring” through donations in exchange for a commemorative holiday ornament.

On Dec. 13, Na Kupuna O Lokelani and Hawaiian falsetto singer Kamakakehau Fernandez will perform.

The entertainment finale on Dec. 16 will feature Lahaina’s own Na Kupuna ‘Ohana and renowned entertainer Henry Kapono, along with a follow-up check presentation.

“In our ongoing efforts to support the community in a meaningful way, the Ritz-Carlton will donate directly to Ka Hale A Ke Ola this year. And by doing so, we are able to impact the children in a greater way with a substantially larger contribution,” said Tom Donovan, the hotel’s general manager and vice president.

All performances will begin at 6 p.m. and are free for all to enjoy. The hotel will accept donations for Ka Hale A Ke Ola during the entire week in the Signature Shop. Call 669-6200.
