Eighth Grade Parent Night set at Lahainaluna High School

King Kamehameha III Elementary School last week announced the recipient of Hula Grill’s “Educator of the Month” for October: music teacher Joe Kent (center), who is joined by Principal Steve Franz and Vice Principal Dawn Mains. Kent has brought music into every classroom and started a new fourth and fifth grade choir that competing at Na Mele O Maui last week, along with the King Kamehameha III School kindergartners. “Mr. Kent has been an exceptional addition to our staff. The students have benefitted greatly from his talent and teaching,” noted Parent Community Networking Center Facilitator Claire Tillman.

LAHAINA – Lahainaluna High School will hold an information night for parents of the incoming freshman Class of 2016 on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 6 p.m. in the Samuel Kamakau Library on campus.

Parents of current eighth-graders at Lahaina Intermediate and Sacred Hearts School are encouraged to attend.

The meeting will assist parents in understanding the school’s curriculum and program offerings, and assist in the planning of the student’s class schedule for the 2012-13 school year.

Topics to be covered include school policies and expectations, graduation requirements, course requirements and course offerings.

A number of staff representatives from the various departments will also share highlights about their respective curriculum.

Registration materials are scheduled to be distributed to eighth-graders at Lahaina Intermediate School and Sacred Hearts School prior to the parent meeting.
