Peace Club to show film

By Staff | Oct 20, 2011

KAHULUI – “Playing for Change – Peace Through Music” will be screened free to the public on Friday, Oct. 21, at the University of Hawaii Maui College Ka Lama 103 at 6 p.m.

The Maui College Peace Club is sponsoring the showing of this award-winning documentary about the worldwide journey of the Playing for Change team that filmed musicians in Africa, ancient Middle East sites, in the Himalayas, on city streets and tiny pueblos. Each captured performance was mixed with the others to create a musical collaboration of remarkable power in which essentially the artists are all performing together, even though thousands of miles apart.

Since its creation in 2001, Playing for Change (www.playingforchange.com/) has evolved into a movement toward peace, dedicated to “creating positive change through music and arts education.”

The members of the Peace Club encourage families to bring children and youth to come enjoy this inspiring film.
