By Staff | Oct 13, 2011

IAO VALLEY – The Japanese Cultural Society of Maui will hold its annual cleanup at the Japanese Gardens at Kepaniwai Park & Heritage Gardens in Iao Valley on Saturday, Oct. 22, from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m.

President Tiffany Iida said, “This is a way to show our appreciation and to pay tribute to our ancestors.”

Families are encouraged to attend to view the many monuments at the park and share the stories of the Japanese immigration with their children. Members and the general public are encouraged to attend, according to event chair Rodney Ryugo.

Volunteers are asked to bring garden tools, trash bags and portable chairs. A complimentary lunch and water will be served to all volunteers following the service project. To register, contact Priscilla Yamamura at 283-4253 by Oct. 19.
