Lahaina Gateway to hold Outdoor Movie Night

By Staff | Aug 25, 2011

Norm Bezane, Lahaina News columnist, will appear at the Kaanapali Beach Hotel courtyard on Sunday, Aug. 28, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to autograph copies of the second edition of his new book, “Voices of Maui, Natives and Newcomers.” The signing will take place during “Morning Goddess” Alaka‘i Paleka’s Sunday Brunch radio show broadcast from the hotel the last Sunday of each month. “This is a great place for a signing, since the missions of the hotel and the book are similar — teaching visitors and locals more about Hawaiian culture,” said Bezane. LAHAINA — Lahaina Gateway will continue its popular Outdoor Movie Nights on Saturday, Aug. 27, beginning at dusk.

This free outdoor event will feature a rare, vintage, 1937 Hawaiian-style cartoon at 7:15 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. by a full-length, magnificently produced, ocean-oriented docudrama filmed throughout the globe that was first released in 2010.

Both films are from one of the world’s most beloved studios. These family friendly films will be shown at the casual outdoor “mini-theater” by the Hula Girl fountain patio area.

For full details, view posters displayed throughout the center or visit www.lahainagateway.com.

Seating will be provided for up to 100 guests. Beach chairs are allowed; no coolers or outside food. The Melting Pot and Teddy’s Bigger Burgers will offer specials that night.
