By Staff | Aug 11, 2011

LAHAINA — The University of Hawaii Maui College’s fall semester begins on Monday, Aug. 22, and there are still openings in several classes delivered on the closed-circuit television system called Skybridge.

West Maui students can take Skybridge classes by attending at the Lahaina Education Center on Kenui Street, while the instructor teaches from the main campus in Kahului.

Using cameras and microphones, students from Lahaina, Hana, Molokai, Lanai and Central Maui attend via virtual classroom in real time.

The classes with seats available are HWST 101 (Hawaiian ‘Ohana) on Mondays and Wednesdays at 4:30 p.m., BUS 125 (Start a Small Business) on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m., ED245 (Child, Family, Community) on Monday evenings and HSER 110 (Introduction to Human Services) on Wednesday evenings.

Each class meets three hours per week and runs from late May through early December. Resident tuition is $97 per credit plus tech fee. Most classes are three credits.

Before registering, applicants must fill out a U.H. system application, show proof of Hawaii residency, take the Compass placement test and submit a Health Clearance Form for TB testing and MMR immunization.

For more information, contact the Lahaina Education Center at 662-3911 or e-mail mcc96761@hawaii.edu.
