LAHAINA — Lahainaluna High School’s boys golf team won their first Maui Interscholastic League championship by winning a three-team playoff last Thursday, April 14, at the Kapalua Bay Course.

In winning the historic title, the Lunas were paced by senior team captain Jamie Horton’s 74 in defeating Seabury Hall and Kamehameha Maui in the 18-hole, three-team playoff for the MIL championship.

Teammates Noah Klipstein and Tyler Armijo each shot 78, and Malu Rosenthal added a 79 for the 309 team total that was four better than Seabury and nine ahead of Kamehameha.

The victory ensures the Luna boys five slots at the state tournament at the Waikoloa Village Course on the Big Island on May 9-11.
