KAANAPALI — Elle Cochran, new nonpartisan member of the Maui County Council representing West Maui, will be the featured speaker at a 4 to 6 p.m. organizational meeting of the West Side Democratic Party on Friday, April 8, at CJ’s Deli and Diner at the Kaanapali Fairway shops.

Registered Democrats will elect new officers and enjoy free coffee and award-winning “Hana Bars.”

Anyone can attend to hear Cochran report on her first months in office. Other elected officials have also been invited.

The meeting will be hosted by District Chair Norm Bezane, a member of the state Democratic Central Committee.

“This will be a chance for people to get involved in planning for the next election, helping define issues on the County Democratic platform and start other initiatives,” he said.

“Other Democratic districts on the other side have been much more active in recent years,” Bezane added. “We are hoping to give West Maui a better presence locally and at the state level.

Individuals interested in being nominated for positions should call the chairman at 667-0589.
